Hill County Kids is a program that provides weekend meals to school-age children in Hill County when school lunch programs are not available. We began serving the students in 2010. We found that up to 83% of Hillsboro’s schoolchildren were relying on the free or reduced-cost lunch program offered in our schools. With the start of the 2021-2022 school year, HISD is now providing lunches at no cost to all students, but we know that many of these children do not have sufficient food available to them on the weekends. Hillsboro ISD, its Superintendent, and its Counselors helped identify the children most in need of assistance. Their identity is not released to us. We put together a low-cost “kid-friendly” menu, and volunteers deliver the “snack pack” bags to the schools, where school counselors distribute them to students. We currently serve an average of 289 Hillsboro students in Head Start through Junior High. The program has now been extended to include Bynum School and Itasca, and our eventual goal is to serve all of Hill County. You can help by donating time or money to our program. Our Mission

Our mission statement is “Feeding hungry Hill County Kids, one child at a time.” Our founders were made aware that many children, for various reasons, may not have easy access to food on weekends, when they are not in school. Our goal is to make sure those kids have food they can call their own and eat without someone having to prepare it. Our food sacks include several different kinds os snack foods and simple meals that a child can open and serve themselves.

Where we are located

We are currently located in the Children’s Education Building at Church on the Hill in Hillsboro, Texas. 2000 Old Brandon Road. Our goal is to have our own building soon.
